Working with the community
Throughout the Autumn and Winter of 2020 Tough Dough have been working with the community of Madron, near Penzance, engaging with a number of families whose children attend St Maddern’s C of E School.
The aim of the project is for families to explore connections to each other, their village and its surrounding environment. With Tough Dough’s help, children and family members have been scavenging, collecting, and sharing ideas and creative experiences.
The emphasis is on connecting children and adults together, supporting wellbeing and encouraging creative activity.
Focusing on the immediate environment
The format of the project is weekly afterschool sessions that combine having sensory experiences outdoors followed by creative responses inside.
We have focused on the immediate environment exploring colour, texture and forms in the natural world.
During lockdown the sessions have continued in digital format,
keeping the group connected.
This project has been funded by Heritage Fund, FEAST Cornwall and Cornwall Community Foundation.
