Tough Dough is a Community Interest Company. Alessandra Ausenda and Lizzie Black are both visual artists and founded Tough Dough in 2006.

Tough Dough was founded in 2006 at the Acorn Theatre in Penzance.  Our first project called Tough Dough was an art installation made by artists, the community and schools in the Penzance area.  The art installation was made of bread dough and flour and based on the theme of domestic life. Through creative thinking, we work with community groups, schools, colleges and individuals throughout Cornwall.  We often work in collaboration with teachers, businesses other organisations such as galleries and museums, other practitioners such as writers and actors and experts such as historians and archaeologists. Working in this way ensures that the participants increase their learning and involvement in the project and activities.  We have been successful in attracting funding from Heritage Lottery Fund, South West Screen, Cornwall Council, FEAST Cornwall,Creative Skills and RIO and have delivered projects for other organisations across Cornwall.

Alessandra Ausenda and Lizzie Black are both visual artists and educators with extensive experience of working with a wide range of people from young children, families, older people and teenagers in schools and in the wider community.
